Portarlington are proof positive of the saying as the u13 footballers built on their success from winning the school hurling final during the week.
While Portarlington's win was well deserved, O Dempseys fought hard till the end. In a lively first half, the contest ebbed and flowed with admirable intensity. Portarlington put up great scores in the first half from excellent team work and movement. Port took the first half lead going in at the break 2 07 to 0 07.
O Dempseys had the aid of the breeze in the second half and the Port keeper and Portarlington defence showed super strength and determination in winning the ball, clearing it up the field.
Throughout the game Ports defence was rock solid and O Dempseys found it hard to break through them.
The work rate from Portarlingtons midfield and forwards was excellent with fast play, and movement throughout the game, complementing their well taken scores.
Portarlington winning on a scoreline of 2 11 to O Dempseys 0 11.
Best of luck to the Port footballers in the upcoming championship.
