Portarlington’s U15 team traveled to Rathleague on Sunday morning and secured an impressive victory against Portlaoise, winning 4-07 to 2-10.
First Half
Facing the wind in the first half, Portarlington started strongly and took control early. Patrick Emerson, Rory O’Dwyer, and Luke Dunne combined to score four goals within the first 30 minutes. Portlaoise managed to stay in the game with a few points from frees, but Portarlington held a significant advantage at halftime.
Second Half
Portlaoise, now playing with the wind, began chipping away at Portarlington's lead. However, Noah McCluskey added two crucial points from frees to keep Port ahead. A late goal from Portlaoise narrowed the gap to three points, but Portarlington held firm. Aidan O'Reilly and Aaron Walsh stepped up in the final minutes with two excellent left-footed points to secure the win.
Team Performance
The team’s defensive performance was exceptional, successfully limiting Portlaoise’s attack, with solid performances from Kian Intharaphan, Tristan Gallagher, Ryan Murphy and Sean Connolly Horan. In midfield and up front, Portarlington’s players were sharp, winning key battles and taking their chances.
