Our U15 footballers made the trip to Galway on Saturday to represent the club and county in the national Feile competition. As usual these young men did themselves and the club super proud, leaving everything they had on the pitch and coming up just short in the final.

The morning started with a bus trip West, followed by breakfast on arrival.

First up was St. Lomans Mullingar with Port coming out on top following a strong second half display.

The second game was Mungrets St. Paul’s, Limerick which ended in a battling draw.

The final group game ended in a draw also against Aughnamullen, Monaghan, who levelled with a last minute free.

Game 4 was a semi final against the Clare champions Eire Og where Port put in their best performance to come from 3 points down in the second half against the wind to win by 1.

At this stage the lads were out on their feet and our Physio Rachel was working miracles getting them out on the pitch.

Game 5 was a national final , a repeat of the group game with St. Paul’s of Limerick who edged the game after a valiant effort by our lads.

While disappointed to miss out, the day should be viewed as a huge success, the efforts, commitment, stubbornness and never say die attitude of this group of lads bodes well for the future of the club. The experience and team bonding of the day will serve the team well as they head into championship territory soon.

Well done lads and a huge thank you to you all on behalf of all the coaches and the club.
